What is solar panel bird proofing?

Close the gap
beneath the array.

The space between rooftop solar panels and the roof can give pigeons a sheltered place to nest. Bird-proofing mesh forms a barrier around the array’s perimeter to help block access to that space.

01 · The material

Galvanized mesh.

We use galvanized mesh with rust protection around the edges of the solar array. It is a physical barrier beneath the panels.

02 · The attachment

Clipped into place.

The mesh attaches with clips without drilling into the panels. Our photos show the clips along the panel edges and the mesh extending down to the roof.

03 · The purpose

Block access below.

The barrier is intended to help keep birds from nesting beneath the array. It does not stop birds from landing on the roof or on top of the panels.
